My wife and I bought our home back in 2014. I remember that I had to convince her that this was the house for us. She was not in love with it but we both loved the neighborhood and we both saw the potential the house had. Our house was a one and a half story, 3 bedroom and 2 bathrooms.

One of the "musts" for us when we started looking at homes was the bedroom we slept in had to have a bathroom attached. This house didn't; so you can imagine how much more convincing I had to do to my wife to buy the house with me. Immediately after we bought the house we hired a builder to put in a dormer which would complete the upstairs bedroom into a wonderful 3/4 bathroom and a full walk-in closet. To this day, this is the project we are most proud of.

For me, and I know my wife can attest to this, owning a home constantly provides me the feeling of being proud. We have completed a number of projects on our house and after each one is completed, I feel more and more proud of our house. Being proud of my home is something I want to instill in my clients and anyone else for that matter. Being a homeowner is a big deal; it is hard, laborious, fun, frustrating, maddening at some points and gratifying.

Be proud of your home.

Great to hear about your house experience. Mine was a little different. I had rented a number of apartments when I was single, and didn't think about it much - very focused on my career. I didn't appreciate that feeling of home until after my wife and I had a house; I kind of grew into it. Now I don't know how I could live without it.
